Hello, Friends,

This being my first post I would like to thank all of you for helping each other.

Find below educational detail
I have 86% in 12th and have done Electronics and Communication Engineering with distinction without any backlogs. I graduated in June 2010 and worked 6 months as an intern for wireless communication company.
I have already got an acceptance from George Brown for Wireless Networking which is 1 year post graduate certificate course.
Financial Details
College Fee including expense and airfare = $23000 (Rs 11lkh.)
I will be taking 80% loan ($18,400/Rs9lakh) and will pay first semester fee from my savings, which is around Rs 320,000.
My husband is permanent resident of USA (Green Card), and will be US citizen next year. He is working as a financial executive with leading financial company. His income is around 1cr10lkh per year.

My doubts...
1) Will I get any benefit from my good academic background?
2) Is my IELTS score enough to satisfy SPP requirement?
3) As per my bank, they cannot provide loan on my husband’s name as he is a NRI hence loan will be on my father's name, though the FD fund would come from my husband and bank can provide that letter. Will this go against my case? as I am married and my dad is a guarantor on my loan.
4) Apart from my father, Can I add my husband’s name as a sponsor?

Please shed some light on my doubts. I appreciate all of you for all the help.

Hi,

1. Yes, definitely your educational credentials are the most important factor in your visa processing.

2. I think you forget to mention your IELTS score. You need minimum 6.0 overall IELTS band score.

3. Yes, your father can be your guarantor and it's not an issue at all. You can also refer your husband's FD. Even your loan is enough to cover your Visa requirement as you have to show 80 percent of expenses which is usually first year tuition fees plus CAD 8,000.

4. Yes, you can add your husband's name as one of your sponsor.

• I would suggest you not to pay first term fees in advance unless it's a mandatory on part of your school. In case of visa refusal, you might end up with $500 deduction by your school in the name of administrative charges. Apart from this, as per the SPP visa checklist, the pre-payment of first term fee is not mandatory. But in some colleges pre-payment of first term fee is an important condition for the issuance of letter of acceptance

Thank you for your reply.

- I have 6.5 bands.
- College does require to pay the first semester fees to secure the addmission and they have specifically noted that 500 would be deducted in case of withdrawal.

Few more doubts
1) is my educational background (Electronics and Communication Eng.) matches to the program I am going for (Wireless Networking)? I do know that it is 100% match but how would VO know that?
2) Will my husband's US PR status would come in to picture? His PR status would point that I will be an immigrant to US after 1 year. Will this affect my case or would be considered as a plus point in terms of leaving canada after my study as I will be having my US PR by Jan 2013.
3) How do I show my 6 month's internship and 6 month's work experiance(I was hired as a non pay intern between June10 to Dec10, and later hired as a paid employee from Jan11 to July11). I left the job to pursue further study. Do I have to mention anywhere or submit any supportive documents? If yes, what documents should I submit?

Thank you all again for helping.

Hi,

1. It’s really difficult for us to say what the match/mismatch is! It depends on lots of factors like your previous education, work experience (if any) and your proposed course, and how is that relevant to your prior study, work. I mean what I have noticed that your proposed course must look “competent enough”, not just a formality.

I am a student like you but still I am sure that you have collected your Letter of Acceptance from a consultant office, because when we have someone with such LOA for Certificate/Diploma course in a College (especially in Ontario) thn it becomes quite obvious for us to conclude about applicant’s profile………and the same thing happen in case of Visa Officer. Too many SPP applicants hold LOA from colleges like Sheridan, Mohawk, Centennial, Humber and few others. So, it’s NOT difficult for a concerned Visa officer to conclude the applicant profile. I am not saying that these colleges hold bad reputation but all I am saying that in such situation things becomes “little difficult”. Few are genuine enough to get visa whereas others left only to criticize Visa Officer.

In your case you are aspiring for a Certificate course, so I do not know what to say. Such courses are considered mainly from Immigration point of views (and that’s the problem). I am keeping bet on your US background. I am sure it will help you. In fact you have very good academics and you hold Distinction in BE which would be very helpful for you. If you have US Visa stamp on your Passport, it’s going to be very easy for you.

2. Under SPP category, it’s not very important to show work experience, however I believe in your case it’s “very important”. Since you are going for a certificate course, I think you must be ready with your “Work experience letter” as it would only strengthen your profile and candidature. In the end you must have something to support your claim for a Visa. Just attach one experience letter under the attestation of your company.

Sam,

Yes, you are right about the fees, but my consultant told me that only living expense + tuition + airfare would be considered and transportation + meal would not be considered, so That is sum up to $23000. Please let me know if this is not the case.

Here in india, Bank can not provid education loan based on NRI FD hence I had to put a FD on my father's name.

Thanks
