Need Help Regarding Citizenship Application

Hi everyone! Hoping to send our family application on August 15. I've 1115 days of residency (77 days already subtracted because of US vacation).

I have a few questions though that hopefully you can answer to enlighten me.

1. Regarding Subsection 6 F on the application form for adults, do we have to provide photocopies of work records also? It's written there that "you must provide photocopies of your work and/or education records." However, it also says to refer to Step 1 Gather Documents. It's not written that we have to provide work records, but to provide education records. This is why I'm confused.

2. My eldest is an incoming Jr Kindergarten student this September. Since my goal is to submit our application this week, my son is exempted from submitting school records. So it's right to put a check mark that he is not of school age (knowing that he'll be in school 2 weeks from now)? This question can be found at the Subsection 6 G on the application form for adults.

Hi virgie,

Regarding submitting the work records, people usually submit a) T4s b) Notice of Tax Assessment from CIC c) Letter of employment from Employer or d) T4s from your employer.

Regarding school record, at the time of your application you kid is NOT attending/not eligible for school so you can safely say NO to that question and skip any such requirements.

In response to your Q2, you only answer / add documents that pertains to the date when you sign (and mail) the application.

I will just attach my hubby's T4s, NOA and income tax return (ITR) earned from working in the Philippines. As for me, I will attach my ITR from the Philippines and NOA from CRA (no T4s because I'm a full time homemaker).

goodman36, I did take a look at the thread. The discussion about work records is interesting eh? Some said there's no need to submit, others said the work records should be submitted. Just to be on the safe side, I will just submit copies of the work records.

Because I thought I wouldn't see my previous certificate of employment. Since I found it already, I don't have to submit ITR. ITRs indicate the name of our employer, so it's also a proof that we've worked before. The citizenship application is asking for work records.
