NEED HELP! RECEIVED ITA - PREGNANT WIFE IN CANADA

Hi,

I have received ITA on 1st March. My wife is 6 months pregnant and leaving to Canada for delivery (on a visit visa).

We have checked with our doctor and she has allowed her to complete the medical (including x-ray) at this stage.

we are thinking of submitting our documents within next 30-45 days (most probably before delivery date).

1) is there any issue with the above?
2) at what stage do we need to update ICRC about the child and would it delay our PR?

1. If the immigration officer sees that your wife is pregnant and on a visit visa, there is a chance she might be denied entry on the basis on delivery tourism to procure Canadian citizenship for the child. You would also need to pay all the costs involved with the delivery.

2. You have to inform CIC after your child is born regarding the change in family composition. I dont see a reason for delay as your child will be a Canadian citizen by birth.

I remember seeing a documentary on a new station in Canada where they welcome medical tourism but I am unsure if that was something specific to a province and type of treatment/births because it brings in $$$. You should research it.

On the other hand, you have 3 months to submit your PR application, what about submitting it after she has entered. Off course you would need to include that journey in the travel history listing. Or some people submit without the dependant's medical and write and LOE. They are usually given time after the delivery to get them medicals done. There is a thread some where about past experiences.

Hi,

ref Entry on Visit Visa for the intend to give birth in Canada your wife should preferably have good answer ready for the questions at Immigration:

1) how long are you going to stay
2) what is the intention for this trip / what are you planning to do during the stay

If her pregnancy is noticeable I think the CBSA officer may raise
an objection as for giving birth in Canada by entering on Visitor Visa (and not a Visa issued for Medical treatment etc) as well as not being able to prove instantly sufficient funds/coverage for the costs of giving birth in Canada.

i personally would apply before coming into the country and then have AOR with you,proof of funds and answers ready for the border officers. if you applied before coming in it might be easer to justify your entry instead of just coming on visitor reason without apparent reason.
it's just my opinion as i know how hard they can be at the airport to let you get in..

i am applying for FBI clearance for my previous stay in USA. Heard it's taking around 60 days. can we submit all other documents (except FBI PCC) before she leaves ?

Yes you can, include the receipt you would have gotten. The FBI took so long for a friend of mine that CIC wrote him specifically requesting it and thankfully the FBI sent it right after. He was able to upload it via the box CIC opened for it via the EE portal.
