Hello everyone,
I need help/information on sponsoring PR for my spouse. Below is my situation.
I have applied for my PR and hoping to get it by October/November. I will be getting married on Oct 28. I am not sure when I will be travelling to Canada after I receive my PR. But assuming that i will be travelling to Canada sometime next year I will start my PR processing for my wife after i travel to Canada since I cannot apply while in India. CIC site says max processing time is 82 days + 8 months. Does this take this long or this is the max lead time?
Also my wife has worked in Canada for almost 1.5 years, assuming that the 1 year rule comes into effect under CEC in July, I am suggesting her to apply under CEC. In this she will receive her PR sooner than the family class. I am not sure if process is risky since she might have to inform CIC after getting married informing that her marital status has changed.
I am confused at this point of time. Any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
