Hello there, I ran into some questions regarding about the forms...it might be stupid questions about please HELP as I don't want to make any mistakes. I want to sponsor my wife to Canada. She is from China and currently living in China. I'm currently living in Canada. we got married 2 months ago and I had to come back to Canada for work.

Form IMM0008

You must provide the following details about each of your family members, whether they will be accompanying you to Canada or not. You must include your spouse or common-law partner,
if applicable, and all of your dependent children, and those of your spouse or common-law partner, who are not already permanent residents or citizens of Canada.

Does that mean I have to include all her family members such as brothers, sisters, father, and mother? and do I (sponsor) have to put down myself on their as well?

Form IMM5532

14. Interpreter Declaration

I(sponsor) pretty much filled out the whole form for her because she doesn't speak or write any English. Do I (sponsor) have to fill this part out??

7. Country-specific requirements

China (People’s Republic of) – Instruction(s) for documents

  • Persons born in the People’s Republic of China since 1996 must submit a notarized copy of the original Medical Certificate of Birth issued by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China. (If this is not available, you must submit an explanation as to why this document cannot be submitted.)
My wife was born in a village(not in a hospital with no doctors) so we went and asked the local ministry of health for a birth certificate they would not provide her one. They would only provide one if she was born in the hospital. They only made her a Notarial Certificate stating that she was born on that date of birth and mother's and father's name. Will that work?

8. Additional Family Information (IMM 5406)
The following person(s) must fill out their own copy of this form: You (the principal applicant), and any of your family members 18 years of age or
older (who are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents).

Does that mean each family member of her's have to fill one out? Her family members(brothers, sisters, father, and mother) will never apply to come to Canada in the future.

Thanks for all your help!!!

For IMM0008 - you only have to include dependents of you and your wife. So children. There is a different family information form (IMM 5406) that will require the listing of brothers, sisters, parents, etc.

For IMM5532 - I don't think you technically need to sign the interpreter's declaration but if you translated everything, it's good you did.

For country specific: When was your wife born? If it is after 1996, you will need to include the explanation you provided about village birth. The notarial statement will help.

For IMM 5406 - your wife's family does not need to each fill one out. She does. And any children you have who are 18 or older must.

Schedule A - Background / Declaration (IMM 5669)
You (the principal applicant) and any of your family members 18 years of age or older (who are not already Canadian citizens or
permanent residents) must fill out and sign their own copy of this form.

So does that mean every single of my wife's family member has to fill one out? (brother sister father mother)

And at the very top, there is a section where UCI and Application number can be filled. My wife previously has applied for the temp visa but got rejected. The letter has the UCI and application number. Should I fill that number on the Schedule A - Background / Declaration (IMM 5669) form????

You should read the complete guide on CIC's website. A "Family member" is not your wife's brothers and sisters etc. Family members are defined as dependent children that you and your wife have. Look at the response K.H.P already gave you.

Best is to start your own thread regarding the topic.

I cannot comment on that, maybe ask a more senior member. I personally do not know the answer. My assumption, however, is that the previous UCI will not be the same as far as I'm concerned, since it is probably linked to the case.

That's incorrect. The same UCI stays with the same person. Application number will change but UCI stays.

Thanks for clarifying. Exactly why I said to OP to contact a senior member lol. Too many things that I am still learning, but at least I have learnt something new now. Thanks!

As YVR123 said in his post below mine, the UCI stays the same for the person. The application number I assume will be provided to you, as it is a different application.
