Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi guys,

I'm completely new to this forum thus this is my first post here. I noticed how awesome ppl in this forum are thus need some helps and advises on choosing the correct NOC code.

I work in a software solution consulting company, thus my job title is consultant, however after checking with hrsdc i realized that my job duty is completely different from my job title and i think it is more closed to 2174 instead of 2171 which includes analysts and consultants.

My job duties include:
-Develop and maintain web portals and pages with the back end C# based application systems and database according to business requirements and designs.
-Develop and maintain existing application code, web pages including front end content display, graphics and text for clients' public production websites and portals.
-Upon consultation with the team lead/supervisor, perform design, coding, debugging, integration testing and maintenance of the C# based console software applications as server monitoring and data publishing tools.
-Analyze the existing code for system components and web services and perform code re-factoring to optimize performances.
-Identify and resolve technical issues occurred in the solution products through debugging, investigation, research and testing.
-Perform code review with team lead/supervisor to check the coding standards and potential impacts.
-Interact with clients and company management to cooperate with the testing for our data processing software solution
-Prepare documents on code designs, implementations and testing result analysis as department management policy.

So shall I go with the NOC code that is closer to my job duty? and do you guys think this job duty of me qualifies the noc code 2174?

Thank you so much guys, any opinions or advises are appreciated!

:)

You job duties should match up with the job duties of any one particular NOC code by atleast 60% or more.
Based on this resemblance, you need to choose your NOC code. Your designation is irrelevant to the NOC code.

Thanks, so what you are saying is that job title shouldn't be the key to choose noc code, instead I should look up the one code with the closest job duty and responsibility comparing to mine right?

Hi,

You are not the one with the issue .Most IT companies designation doesnot match with the day to day activities . CIC is looking for what you do on your day to day activities and not about the designation. So you need to choose the noc based on what you do and not whom you are.

Correct. Remember to read the lead statement (the summary description at the top), which is also key.
