Need help in applying for a PR

Hi all,

I am planning to apply for a PR in Canada. At present I am on USA H1B visa staying in US for more a Year. I am good to stay in USA till Sep,2010.

I am from India and I am a Computer Software Programmer with five yrs of exp in IT. As per the self assessment test I fall under SKILL Level A: 217 Computer and Information
Systems Professionals, I got exactly 67 points. So, I think I am eligible to apply for PR under Skilled Workers and Professionals.

But I have few questions? My H1B is tied up with an Employer.

1) Can I apply on my own for a PR without informing my employer.

2) If there is no need to inform, then what kind of doc's can I present as a proof of employment status in USA.

3) If I apply for a PR in Nov,2009 is there a chance of getting the PR before my US visa expires( Sep,2010).

4) And suppose if PR gets delayed and my US visa expires and I flew back to India, then what are the things I need to take care of.


I really appreciate if some one could help me .

0217 does not qualify as FSW Category 1. You may need arranged employment in Canada, Canadian work experience or provincial nominee status to get Canada PR.

I strongly recommend you to go thru www.cic.gc.ca website and also go thru the manuals in the links below (in my signature). Specially go thru the 38 list.
