Hello everyone. Its heartwarming to see how much everyone in this forum have been helping each other. I am sure it must have give so many the confidence and support to go ahead and file their immigration application for Canada. Its also a boon to people like me who would like to go ahead without hiring any consultants or immigration lawyers! :) ;D

So Let me first give you a background, My IELTS score are L:8 R:8 W:7 S:7 (AVG: 7.5)
I completed by MBA in 2010 and have been working continuously since then. My first job was as a sales & marketing manager for 3 years and then i joined another company as a Marketing Manager(1 years) and was recently promoted to chief marketing officer(13 months back) in the same company. Its a small internet startup company into education sector. I am still employed at the same organization and will continue here for a while regardless of whether i get a canada P.R or not.

But here is the dilemma, Since i worked for 4 years as a marketing manager, I believe that the NOC code that applies to me would be 0124. But the category of chief marketing officer or senior manager falls under the code 0013. Hence at the time of claiming points for your total experience with CIC and selecting the noc code, which one should i select? My gut says go for 0124 and show total 5 years of work ex as marketing manager only instead of showing 4 years as marketing manager and 1 year as chief marketing officer. Because if i choose 0013, i might only be awarded experience points for just 1 year instead of full five years.

Kindly help...

Looking forward to all your replies.

All the best to everyone... Please also connect with me incase you are applying in EE as a FSW. We can be each other's support! :) :)

You should go with your gut feeling. It's is our hands to show a particular NOC experience, if we have multiple NOCs in our profile.

Have you got your ECA done for your MBA and Bachelors? Are you aware of CRS tool?

Hello brother. Thank you so much for your quick reply. First of all congrats on receiving an ITA. I am sure you will reach your goals soon! :) I will look forward to gain valuable guidance from you. Did you apply all by yourself like me or taking a help of a consultant / lawyer?

Coming back to your question, i have already paid the fees to ECA but no have not send them the documents yet. I thought i will create a EE profile only after i have those along with the experience letters in my hands. I DONT WANT TO RUSH IN THOSE 60 DAYS WINDOW IF I GET ITA by chance.

Although I am doing my best to research online day in and day out regarding this is this another issue i am currently facing.
First, you should know that i passed out of M. S university of baroda with distinction in 2008 with a 3 year BBA degree. MSU is given rank B by NAAC. So will WES or any other ECA service providers consider this degree as a equivalent of a canadian under graduate degree? If not WES then who is our next best bet?

I also went ahead and finished my MBA(2 year) degree in 2010 from IBS (ICFAI Business school Mumbai) which is again accredited by NAAC but cannot find any grade suitable to the same.

So in your experiences, can you tell me if my masters degree will get counted by the CIC and will i be eligible to get points for 10+2+3+2 i.e 17 years of graduation? Ideally it should fetch me 22 or 23 FSW points and 135 CRS points. Would you agree with the same?

What about WES? will it consider my BBA as equivalent to a canadian under graduate degree? also i believe that i will have to get my ECA done with WES for both BBA and MBA, am i right? or just the master's degree?

Hoping to hear from u... thanks brother for your time! :)

Thanks Brother, I appreciate your kind words.. :)

a) Don't hire any consultants or lawyers. Thus forum will give you more information than what these guys can. Here the members will guide you in every aspect, so please don't put your money in any sort of consultation.

b) No one but WES can answer the Canadian equivalency of your education. No one from this forum or elsewhere can guarantee you the results before the actual assessment happens. So, get your transcripts ready in a sealed, stamped envelope from both of your universities (Bachelors + Masters) and send them to WES for assessment. You should send transcripts from both the qualifications, it won't cost you extra money.

c) WES is the fastest and most popular way for ECA. Most of us have used their services.

Regarding your remaining questions, I don't want to give you any vague information, so unless you have ECA report in hand, we cannot speculate on 22/23/135 points. The cut-off points in the last (11 th, last Friday) draw were 469 for an ITA from CIC, so before the threshold leap frogs again, get your ECA done asap. It's good that you are done with IELTS already.

All the best.

The choice of NOC should be done carefully considering the following 3 areas.

1. EE eligibility http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

At least 1 year of full-time paid work experience in NOC 0/A/B in the last 10 years for FSWP.

2. FSW 100 points grid http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp

You get between 9 and 15 points on a scale of 100 for work experience (in one particular NOC). Your overall score, irrespective of whichever NOC you choose, should be at least 67/100 to qualify. If choosing NOC 0013 doesn't give you enough points, you'll have to choose NOC 0124.

3. CRS score http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

You can gain points for work experience gained across multiple NOCs in this category so this won't matter in your case as you'll fall under the highest slab of 5+ years.

Hope that clarifies. All the best!

A big vote of thanks to both of you guys for the rock support! i have a lot of questions i want to ask! but i dont know if i should ask them in this thread or create a separate thread for each subject!

For eg: The one question that comes to my mind is, what date should i ask my current employer to mention on my reference letter? There will be a beginning date and an end date right? so lets say the beginning date is 1st June 2013. then what to mention in the end date if i am still working at the same company at the time of preparing the reference letter for the canandian express entry?

Should the employer mention specifically that this reference letter has been created upon the request of employee to apply for canada's express entry?

How many references of college names do i have to give apart from the employer reference letter?

Will there be any interview after getting an ITA?

there are more, but i will ask them step my step... first i'll do my own research and when i cant find answer, i will ask you big brothers! :)

They will mention that as 'still working'. Not mandatory to have an end date on each reference letter.

Should the employer mention specifically that this reference letter has been created upon the request of employee to apply for canada's express entry?

Not mandatory but won't hurt.

How many references of college names do i have to give apart from the employer reference letter?

Not mandatory to have colleague name referrals in that letter. It should mention the name of the immediate supervisor(s) or personnel officer(s) at the organization who are signing off on that letter.

Will there be any interview after getting an ITA?

Not mandatory. Might happen if needed.

Hi,

Just to confirm how are you checking Marketing Manager and Chief Marketing officer under 0013 and 0124.

Don;t they fall under NOC 1123 ?
