Hi,
My husband is a Software professional who is holding a workpermit valid until Sept 2010.
I was a software professional having 4 years experience in core programming languages and is currently on visitor visa to join my husband in Canada.
I strongly desire to work and would like to apply for work permit in Canada .
I would be really grateful if you can answer me the below queries

1) Should I apply for workpermit only after gettting my husband's extended work permit copy ?

2) Can I contact the nearest Citizenship and Immigration office in Canada and apply for workpermit ?

3) Generally how long would it take to process a work permit for spouse ?

4) Can workpermit and temporary resident visa be applied parallely ?

Any help would be much appreciated

Is he sponsoring you to Canada? If so is it an inland or outland. If he is applying for you from inside Canada he can put the work permit app in with the sponsorship app.You will recieve the work permit after he is approved to sponsor. If he already sent the app in then you need to send the work permit app in right away.

You can only apply for a work permit, if you have a job offer..if not you will need to have your husband sponsor you either inland or outland..if it is inland..after the first stage approval you will be given a work visa...outland..you will have PR so you will not need a work permit..
