Hi,

Early Jan, I applied to CIC under AINP. My current employer wants me to visit Edmonton for some business purpose [less than 2 weeks]. Can someone tell me whether my visit to Canada can jeopardize my PR application or not?
I am really confused due to this new development as my H1B visa has expired but I have valid I-94.

Should I use AVR or get H1B revalidation done at Calgary?

Thanks in advance,

First of all your CIC process no relation with this prospective trip to Edmonton because CIC has not made any decision yet. You have to apply for regular Visitor Visa which can be obtained at anyother consulate in Seattle. detroit, Washington DC etc. For H1B stamping, revalidation purposes Ottawa consulate is the Best as per my experience. For Visitor Visa you can show the to and fro reserved air tickets and hotel reservation plus funds.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Since this is company sponsored business trip, I am hoping paperwork will be full proof. I am Austin, TX and hope that there is Canadian consulate in Houston :)

I am sure you are an IT Guy but working for Oil and Gas company like British petrolium, Exxon, Chevron or shell because that is the only co-relation between Austin, TX and Edmonton, AB.

Yes and No. I am an IT guy but don't work for Oil and Gas company. I am sure there are other domains beyond Oil and Gas which are common to Austin and Edmonton. :) I am confident that after I settle down in AB, I will start and run a company successfully. I need to know and feel the ground before laying foundation. It can happen quickly if I find venture capitalist to finance the company.

Don't worry, For immigrant settler No venture capitalist is going to take risk, No matter how many Canadians you bring as a Board of Director. That is Canada which has more Glass ceiling to climb the ladder of success in Business, Decades before when First Reddy started his consulting he couldn't get single penny from Bank even after having excellent credit history. The Early generations of Patel, when they bought small Highwayside Motels in Mississipi, Arizona and Atlanta, they couldn't get single penny from any lending body. Atleast 5-6 years of struggle...

Thanks for sharing bitter and heart shattering reality. I will try to make it happen on my own; no matter how long it takes.
