Hi guys, need some advice, I'm sponsoring my wife and inherited step son. His biological dad has had nothing to do with him since the day he was born. He's 16 now, and the visa office is asking for a document for him to sign to consent to move abroad when is unreachable and can't be located, could be dead for all we know. Can I ask best option to go about to satisfy the officer on the matter? Statuatory declaration? Other ways? any and all advice appreciated. Thanks. Wife has sole custody of him too of course.

I have no clue. If I were you, I would look around on this forum for users that seems knowledgable, and then message them and simply ask if they are ok with you asking a few questions. Hopefully they could help.

If not, maybe a lawyer is the way to go. I generally don't recomend lawyers but it's usually the best option in more complicated cases, just make sure they're competent, that they send you copies of everything and that you monitor their every step. Also, make them show you in writing when they claim something.
