I'm assuming you live in Canada - is that right?

Unfortunately you can't sponsor someone if you are on social assistance (welfare). Is there any way you can get off welfare?

Also, to sponsor - you will either need to be married or common law (have recently lived together for at least one full year and can prove it).

Since you said VA system takes very good care of your fiancee financially and he gets social security, can't you get off welfare and let him financially support you and your kid?

why not get off your welfare BEFORE he is accepted? He can still support you and your kid, can't he?

Yes - you must get off welfare before submitting the application for your fiance. If you don't, the application will be rejected. You must then stay off welfare while the application is being processed and until the time your finace's application is approved.

So getting off welfare after he is approved isn't one of your options.

Also, hopefully you're aware that in order to sponsor him, you must either be married or common law (have lived together recently for at least one full year and can prove it).

so if I go get married at the end of January in niagara falls and get off welfare ,can I have him live with me from that moment,so basically getting off welfare get married and letting him live with me and then applying for residence right or it it a longer process
