I have recently received a letter of refusal of my TRV from the canadian embassy. The officer has refused my application on the grounds that I have not satisfied that I am going back to my country after my visit. But have never mentioned any other documents I could send to prove that I can. I would be visiting a friend for 2 weeks, and we’ve set my visit so I can attend her birthday. I have included the following supporting documents:

- Copy of roundtrip ticket
- Bank statement
- Proof of employment (I am sole proprietor of a computer shop, so I sent them: (1) mayors permit and (2) my business registration.)
- Letter of invitation from friend
- Proof of citizenship of friend (Canadian birth certificate and Canadian passport)

I don’t know what else we should send, but I’m hoping to re-apply and be able to use my ticket. I am going back to my country after my visit to take care of my business. As for travel history, I’ve been visiting different countries including Hongkong, China, Dubai, Thailand, Guam and been to United States too. In fact I’ve been a green card holder of the United States till 2009, when I decided to surrender my card so I can stay in the Philippines. I am also curious if they didn’t approve my application because of my family ties in the US—almost all my family members are living and working the US except for my mom. Me and my mom live together and I support her here in the Philippines.

As for the trip, me and my friend have been planning on visiting each other but never really had the chance to do so. She’s currently working in a hotel in Vancouver and as an employee privilege: she can get me discounts on hotels and tours/museums/tourist spots on the area. My purpose would solely be tourism and visiting my friend. I would really appreciate any advice you could give me on this matter.

Thank you in advance.
