Hi guys - below are my application timelines and I wanted to know if/how should I go about requesting a fresh PCC from US.... ::)

App filed from - India (Delhi)
App received - 14-Jul-14
AOR received - 13-Sep-14
Original US PCC Issue Date - Jan'2014

Q1) My current US PCC is >1 year old. From what I hear (keeping fingers crossed), I may get MR in March sometime. A fresh police certificate may be requested before or at the same time as MR -- is it advisable to apply for a PCC right now so that it can be processed and delivered back to India in time ( I think we get 60 days to submit if a fresh one is requested)?

Q2) If the MR is delayed, then, will applying for a PCC now and getting it in another 8-10 weeks (or maybe more) makes sense? I may not get an MR for another x number of months in which case a fresh certificate would become redundant.

Q3) Is it advisable to wait until CIC asks for a fresh US PCC? I am just concerned about the overall time it may be needed for securing a fresh certificate from US.

Q4) If/when I decide to apply for a PCC, how to go about fingerprinting from India (Delhi/NCR)? I vaguely remember some JK Consultancy who provides this service but not sure if there are better ways/resources to do it in India....

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. Wait to see if CIC asks for it (unlilely), but with the processing time it is your choice to apply now to the FBI just in case.
2. Even if you are issued a MR, your visa is not going to be issued in days after it, it will months.
3. Google fingerprinting services in India.

Thanks, PMM. I am still confused about whether I should apply for a new PCC right now or wait for it until CIC asks.... Can't get to make up my mind!

Hoping a few more members will share their thoughts on this. :)

I will try google for the fingerprinting services but just wanted to know other experiences (good and especially bad)...

Hi Friends - can anyone provide their thoughts on this situation? Thanks.

Hi tw,

I am thinking that the need of new PCC may also somewhat depend if you have stayed in US after the PCC issue date for long periods. Have you lived (or travelled to) in US, after the dates which the original PCC covers? And if yes, do you mind sharing how long was that?

Thx

Agree with this statement. Also it is taking more than 90 days and not 60 days anymore. My application reached FBI on Dec 02, 2014 and my CC was charged just yesterday Mar 04, 2015. Yet to recieve the PCC.

Hi - I moved from US to Canada in Aug'2012 and did not live in States after that.... though I travelled to US while in Canada once for 1 week on a business visa somewhere in Jun'2013. I applied for a US PCC in Nov'2013 and got the certificate in Jan'2014 with an issue date of 1-Jan-14.

I think I may be covered until CIC asks for a new PCC but what would you suggest?

Thanks.

Hi Tw,

As you have not stayed in US after the 1st PCC, I see that you are covered.

However one of the ways to know if this would become a question by CIC is to request for case notes using GCMS. Reading those notes you could tell the extent of eligibility & criminality determined till the date of report. If criminality is determined already as passed, then you do not need new PCC from US, if not there might be comments on US PCC in the notes which would reflect how the PCC is accepted w.r.t. it's validity date.

In the meanwhile if you get MR then generally it can be assumed that the US PCC as submitted has been accepted.

Hope this helps!

Great point on GCMS notes, rks0101.... though I think rather than waiting for 30-day turnaround for the notes, I could apply for a fresh PCC now which could be back with me in 60-45 days. This will help in saving a few weeks in case a new PCC request comes from CIC, say in the next 3-6 weeks.

Do you think this makes sense? Just confused with more than one way to handle this situation so trying to deliberate.... Thx.

Hello Tw,

Given the long turnaround for fresh PCC and given that GCMS notes are yet not requested, it seems worth to proceed for fresh PCC, seems to be good ( :)) parallel planning on your part...

Thanks!

Hi Friends - just sharing some information regarding FBI fingerprinting services in Delhi (NCR) in case anyone of you are in a similar situation.....

The following are the options I could find if you want to go for requesting a FBI PCC from Delhi (NCR):

1. JK Consultancy - 3500INR per person for fingerprinting only. They will provide the FD card but you'll have to bear the 18$ FBI charge and take care of the courier process.

2. SIFS India - 1500INR per person for fingerprinting only. 4000INR per person for end-to-end service (fingerprinting, courier and FBI fee).

3. Truth Labs - 1500INR per person (+ taxes, comes out ~1685INR per person) for fingerprinting only.

4. NCRB (govt body) - they said they've stopped offering the services for external purposes (like in this case where PCC is required for immigration to another country). I'm not sure about this, will try and call them again.

Here are my thoughts: -
- I am in a situation where I have to take a call for applying for a new US PCC in anticipation of getting a CIC request sometime in next 2-4 weeks. I think I will go for SIFS India and atleast send a new request to FBI in next 1-2 weeks so that I can get a new PCC back in 12-14 weeks.
- If I get a CIC request for a new PCC in the meantime (which is anticipated in next 2-4 weeks), atleast I'll save some time since I'll have a heads-up in the process.
- But, I will anyway have to request CIC for an extension in providing a PCC from US ( I hope it works if I send an email) because (of what I've read in other posts recently), CIC is only giving 60 days to send back a new PCC!

I know it's a repeat question, but I haven't been so confused... Just not able to take a call (coz I'm concerned if my case ends up getting delayed, my new PCC may not work by the time I get another request coz it will lose it's 3-month validity). ???

Thoughts?
