Hi All,

Can you please suggest on how I can proceed before applying for PR under CEC.

Myself and my wife came to Canada last Mid-December and we each had our work permit to work for the same company. Unfortunately we did not get our marriage certificate before coming from our home country, as we each had our own visa's we did not require a marriage certificate at that time.
Next month we will be completing our one year and will be eligible for applying under the Canadian Experience Class. I also got good result in my CELPIP scores so I can go ahead and apply.

How should I apply now ?

Can I apply for myself and add her as my spouse and add the marriage certificate in 2 or 3 months ?
Or Is there a way to register our marriage here and then apply ? I'm kind of worried If I can wait till the express entry kicks in.

Kindly advice.

Thanks !

You need the proof of relationship BEFORE submitting it. You might get away with "forgetting it" but you also have a high chance of being refused for incomplete documentation.

Why don't you get married in Canada? It shouldn't take more than a month to get the marriage certificate.

If not then you will have to get the certificate from your home country, translate it (maybe notarize it) and then include it with your application.

I agree.. get a marriage certificate from Canada if you cannot arrange for the original one.. you would definitely have to provide the proof of marrriage.. also you can show proofs of living together and that should also help in making your case stronger.

Thanks for your replies !

If I can get the certificate in a month, I think I can go ahead and register the marriage here. Also, back in India during the Visa processing, we both had filled spouse information in few forms. Will that conflict with the marriage registration if we do it here, or they will not take those forms into account?

Could you please elaborate on the procedure?

I had added her name in the tenancy application form before leasing the apartment. Is that a valid proof for living together and help me in getting the marriage certificate?

What they are saying is

a) get your marriage certificate from back home, or
b) get married again in Canada. A civil marriage can usually be done rather quickly.

The "how" depends on where you are -

guys 1 question

I completed P.R Application following IMM5610 checklist. Also mentioned my spouse will accompany me. I am residing in canada on work permit and my spouse back home .. do i need to fill the form IMM5484 (TRV)checklist with this P.R application process together.

Really confused with guide page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp#5609E7 right at the bottom below mailing your application section. any suggestion please

No, you don't NEED to apply for a TRV at the same time.

I agree, the way the information is presented is a bit confusing. All they are saying (I think) is that if you and your family members need to apply for a TRV (like, if you wife wants to come to Canada before the PR application is finalized), then you can submit multiple TRV applications at the same time, in the same envelope. But TRV applications can be submitted separately.
