Hi! I’m an international student at McGill University and it’s my last year however I need to do an extra year at McGill in order to graduate. So, I will have to get a new study permit and TRV. However, I’ve read that Canada stopped processing visas due to coronavirus and I’m very scared this will affect me completing my degree. I also heard universities are ordered to suspend intake of new international students. I’m not new, I’m returning but still. What do you think of my situation?

I think you should try reading legitimate news sources.

"I have heard...", just check the official government websites and Canadian news agency, there has been absolutely no change to permits or visas. There might be slower processing because less people are working but that's about it.

Hi, thanks. My bad completely. I guess just all the stress and anxiety from this situation is not letting to think clear. Just got the email from university that they are suspending the intake of new international students so that’s why I got stressed that it might affect returning students too.

Hi! Mcgill university actually suspended intake of new international students if you’re referring to this.

I'm referring to the statement about Canada not processing visas. That is untrue and easily verified by checking the actual IRCC wesbite.

You’re right, I think just a lot of media creates untrue information so it’s easy to get anxious esp when you’re a student too

Again, check legitimate sources. No legitimate media is reporting this.

Hey there !

They aren't suspending the visa services however they are being delayed, I would suggest you to keep plenty of time while applying as it might take about 2 months to get accepted.
