Hi everyone,

I need some advice regarding applying for CEC. I have already applied for skilled worker in Jan 2010 (1 year and 10 month ago) and just recently was informed that my case has been transferred to Seattle, still no medical request. In one month I can apply for CEC. Does anybody have any idea how long the cec will take and if it really worth the extra cost to apply again.

I had applied to skilled worker via the international student category, I think that category is not in top priority. So I am a little worried that it will take a long time to get processed.

Any suggestions?
Tanx

hi. it depends where you submitted your application. but if in case you submitted your file to buffalo, it should be 21 months for processing time, and you should heard already from them. im sure that everything is going well with your application, otherwise they already sent you a reply of refusal, and wouldn't let your file in process if they found a reason to refuse your application. but who knows, it's best for you to apply for CEC when youre ready. at least you have a back up plan right? just allow couple months after you met your experience requirement in CEC, and allow time for the update of your FSW application.

Thanks for the reply.
I have submitted my application to Buffalo. The thing is that I know some people who have submitted their application a few month earlier than me and still have not heard back from the visa office.
I noticed the 21 month average processing time in the cic website but only includes the processed applications and not the ones which have not been finished yet. A little misleading.

hi. normally it takes more than expected processing time if theyre doing a background check. like for example if you lived in the country aside from your country of permanent residency or nationality for more than a year. like mine, it took longer coz i also lived in japan for a year. that's maybe one of the reason, but im not 100% sure.
