Hi, I am an international student in Toronto and have a typical passport issue that many that many other Indians in Canada have also faced. Basically, my entire name appears in my Given Name section of my passport and the Surname section is empty. However, since Canada (CIC/IRCC) requires a last name, my entire name has been shifted to the Surname section in my Study Permit and my TRV.
I was told that I can apply for splitting the name through BLS.
BLS said that they would cancel my existing passport with the visa staying valid and issue a new one.
However in my port-of-entry letter it mentions that *if I get a new passport before my TRV expires, I would have to apply for a TRV again.
can someone please clarify this and also share their experience of how they changed they split their name in Canada?
