I have been a citizen of Canada for 29 years and recently got married. When my wife and I went in to change our last name I ran into an issue with my name that I am looking to fix. To simplify, my full name is "A B Y-Z" (First, Middle, hyphenated last name). I would like to change my name to go by "A B Y" before my wife takes my last name.
On my citizenship document my name is "B A Y" (A B reversed & no hyphen).
On my drivers licence, passport, SIN my name is "A B Y-Z".
I have a name change document from 1992 changing my name from "B A Y" to "B A Y-Z" (B & A still reversed)
When I went in to apply for a name change, I was told my drivers licence and passport are actually invalid and that I have to update my citizenship document which will take over a year to get my correct name.
My question is does it matter that my first two given names are reversed on some document? Is there an easier way to correct this as I really want to go back to my original name, but reverse the order of my given names. To add to the confusion, my second last name that I am trying to drop is spelt with a double letter on all my documents except my citizenship and name change form which does not have the double letter.
I appreciate any advice or points in the right direction.
