just wondering if anyone knows what is best for my wife to use her maiden name or my name, hope that she can use maiden name as it will take too long to change on passports

if ur wife is canadian then it takes only a month , my wife did it too , its good that she has ur name on her passport it helps a little bit in showing that marriage is genuine but if u dont want then its ok its not that seriuos at all

thanks for getting back to me,but does it make any different if she is russian. iam the canadian

why i asked if she is canadian is only becaus i know how long it will take to change the name because my wife is canadian and has already done it and it took her one month , i dont know how long it will take in russia .

Hi Willy

If you got married in Russia and she was listed with your name on the marriage certificate I believe that Russia makes you change your internal and international passports.

If she is still listed under her old name on the marriage certificate then you can stay with the maiden name.

I would like to get my last name added to my wife's name on Indian passport. Does any one know how to get it done?

So I'm Canadian sponsoring my husband to come to Canada. I want him to change his last name to his official family name and not keep his dad's name (i.e. Bob John Smith, instead of Bob John). What's the best way to change his name? Should I ask him to change it after he comes to Canada?

It will be prohibitively expensive for him to do it here in Canada.

How do you mean?

No kidding. I stand corrected, (unless some provinces are expensive like Quebec, specifically which I could not care less about).
