We recently received our PR cards and we are currently in USA temporarily to wind up things (and our ECAS case file is complete).
We are planning to change the name of your son. He is a US citizen and we are going to be taking care of updating his parrport, SSN, Birth records etc.
(1) Regarding his PR, do we know how do we update this name? I was reading http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5445ETOC.asp#5445E7
which says "if you are a permanent resident who changed their name outside of Canada, provide a foreign passport or other national authoritative document that has been amended to reflect the new name, and an official document linking the old and new names."
(2). I am confused regarding the logistics of this change. Which of the following would be better:
Option 1: Go to Canada using the US passport (which allows for 180 days of stay) and file for new PR card based on above.
Option 2: Start the process for new PR card while in US. I am not sure if this is even possible (since PR cards are not sent outside US)
Please help me.
