NAFTA work permit - what happens if I lose my job?

I recently accepted a job with a company and am supposed to come to Canada on a NAFTA visa to work for them. The short version is I haven't even arrived in Canada yet and things are starting to look rocky with this employer. What happens if I lose my job while I am there on the work visa? Am I immediately subject to deportation? Do I have any sort of grace period? I've never seen this discussed.

1, If the job ends, you can remain as a visitor until the work permit expires. You can't work for another employer, unless you find another nafta job and new work permit or an employer gets and approved LMIA and you can apply for a new work permit,
