This is a minor point but it appears there are 3 conflicting instructions on how to fill in the Schedule 1: Background Declaration when the details do not apply, specifically question 12 on membership of organisations.

  • The form itself says fill in 'NONE'
  • The guidance on the Buffalo website says 'N/A' or 'Not applicable'
  • And the instruction guide (IMM 5609) says 'do not write “not applicable”. Rather, write: “I have never been a member of an organization or association”'

Which one is it??!

I can't even imagine that being possible :) None, never? Are you sure?

If that really is true, I would follow the instruction guide (option 3).

Well when i submitted my application I had a similar query. The point being you can't put N/A for being part of association or having millitary training etc. You SHOULD put NONE as it highlights the fact that you Could have participated in that organisation but CHOSE not to. Safer than claiming that you weren;t eligible for it which raises more question. OFcourse i have had some friends who made that mistake but they were offered their AOR without any returns for changing the forms. As long as you don't leave anything BLANK you should be fine :)
