Hello,

I am trying to find an option to stay in Canada and as things have been hectic lately I am two months away from my working holiday visa expiration date. I know this has been asked before numerous times but it's so overwhelming and i'd like to ask what are my options?

i have been focusing on the idea that my employer would extend the work permit through LMIA but realistically, I am not sure if that's possible as I work at a cafe.

Regardless of my options, if the processing times take much longer than 2 months, would i be able to leave the country and re-enter as a visitor? i am from Lithuania and don't require a visitor visa, only biometric passport (which i have)

So not to waste anyones time and formulate my question more coherently: what are my options on extending the work permit AND can i re-enter as a visitor?

thank you in advance.

Unfortunately as you work in a cafe you won't be able to get sponsored.

What are your roles in the cafe? Do you get tips?

As I'm sure you are already aware, you can't "extend" a Working Holiday work permit. Your employer would have to go through the LMIA process for you to be able to apply for a closed work permit. You can apply to change to visitor status but you can't work once the existing work permit expires.

would i be able to apply for an open work permit? is there any chance i would be able to go through the LMIA process?

and how does reentering work, do i leave before my current visa expires and reenter or is the process more complicated?

You cannot get a LMIA with a hospitality job, me and my company were in a similar situation and realised it was pointless.

With regards to re-entering on the day your visa runs out, go to the border and tell them you need to come back as a visitor. This is pretty common as people still have pay cheques and stuff they need to sort out etc.
