My wife is in Canada. I want to apply for visitor visa before....we start processing for spousal sponsorship. I am in United States for my Masters from Ghana. I hv been refused Canada visa in the past.

It's advisable to start the spousal sponsorship process instead of reapplying for a TRV

Case to case basis--in yours, since your spouse is in Canada, it may not swing all that differently.

You're not a US citizen though so same concerns apply.
