Hello everyone, please take a look on my sample statement of interest. Is this good enough to get admission in memorial uni..i'm newbie and really confused,, ???


I am writing to express my deep interest in undertaking M.ed in Educational Leadership studies at Memorial University. I learned about this program offered by your university through the university website. The program in particular caught my interest, because of its focus on a specialized field. Moreover the positive feedback by the current graduates really stimulated my interest in this program.
I have a natural inclination towards teaching and guiding others since childhood. After completing my Bachelors Degree in Arts in 2003, i opted right away for Bachelors of education from one of the leading universities of pakistan, "The University Of Education".I persued professional studies there and completed my degree in 2004. My area of specialization is secondary education.

I started my proessional career as a secondary school teacher in 2005 and served in a local school.Then i worked in Alfatah school from 2010 to 2013. My basic duties were classroom management, supervising students, delivering lectures ,managing homework,etc.

After gathering valuable teaching experience, i want to persue higher level studies from an international university.That is why i opted to persue post graduate studies in Educational Leadership. I believe good leadership is critical to good education and by seeking good leadership training and skills, i can achieve great success in my career.

I believe that both my academic and professional backgrounds provide me with the sufficient knowledge to allow me to actively engage in your graduate program and to accomplish my objectives. I strongly believe that this graduate program will complement my existing technical skills to help me accomplish my goals .With my commitment and background, I believe that I will succeed in graduate studies.

the only thing i suggest is make it chronological first ur most recent experience then older and with dates so like "from 2005 to 2010 worked forso and so" and then 2010 to 2013...connect with a flow....write a little bit of what ur experience is and how it is related to the course u selected...

very good, although in your last paragraph "allow me to actively..." should be changed to actively allow me.... to avoid an infinitive split (which is technically incorrect. Best of luck!

Somewhere in one of the threads here I read that the Visa Officer(VO) might question you why you want to do an M.ED from a foreign country considering your own country offers many M.Ed courses and the content of M.Ed would be very different from what is being offered in Indian universities. Were you questioned by the VO too?

Were you questioned by the VO too?

YES! They told me the same even for a PG course. You need to give them an explanation in your SOP that “WHY CANADA AND WHY NOT INDIA”

yes! Believable and strong. People might tell you to be emotional and put emotional stuff but trust me they only care about you ticking certain boxes as they are answerable as to why they approved or refused. So make sure you put the most logical yet believable scenario possible. They just want to know (atleast in your written application) that you will leave Canada at the end of the stay!!!!!!

Hi,

I am just preparing my SOP at the moment. Need to retake my IELTS Academic as it is no longer valid (Individual scores : Listening 8; Reading 7; Writing 7.5; Speaking 8.5). Also contacting people for references. Haven't really applied anywhere yet. I am interested in the M.Ed (Gerontology) program, so I'll apply there too.

I am a primary teacher and have 16 years of teaching experience. My qualifications are B.Ed and M.Com. I think they will consider B.Ed marks (71.4%).

I have an issue that i have submitted my application but i realised just now that i have made a mistake in writing the duration of course in my SOP. My course duration is actually 2 years but by mistake i have written it 1 year. Will it affect the decision?
Though it cannot be changed now i am just worried abt it.
Please help me with this query.
