Hello I'm hoping some people around here will be able to help me. I'm looking for options that will allow me to extend or allow me to permanently stay in canada.

Little about me!
- I'm a UK citizen
- I have a Canadian Fiancé
- I have been working in Canada on IEC working holiday visas
- I am in full time employment although getting the company to sponsor me is not possible.

1. I'm on my second IEC working holiday VISA which is expiring in July this year. Initially the IEC website said you will only be able to participate in this for 2 12 months periods .. but it seems like they are always changing the system, will I be able to re-apply this year when the applications open Feb 1st?

2. If I cannot re participate in the IEC visa scheme what are my other options ? I am currently engaged to my Canadian Fiancé.. do I need to get married?

Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Hi there tmosh,

Your options are there, but I would act sooner rather than later to ensure your visa is processed soon.

I was in the same position and I got married to my now husband. I then put in for my permanent residency too. In hind sight, I would have liked to have been on this sooner and not waited another 7 months before sending in paperwork.

Your options are then whether to apply as an inside or outside applicant. There are pros and cons to both of these situations. Generally applying outside will be quicker, but you are not eligible to work however.

I would suggest looking on the CIC website for further information. There are some great forums on here for PR applications too.

Good luck!
