I did not know that my roommate was involved in illegal activities. Police came to our house and arrested him for contrabands. The officer took my details down as well and told me that I have nothing to worry about. I'm working full-time, I am clean, filed my taxes, and I never got involved in anything illegal but after this I'm worried a lot. Can this affect me in any way? Does IRCC run a deep background check on every single person that lives at your address? Now that my roommate has a record, can this also affect me in any way. The officer did take my details down in case he needs more information but told me that my background check should not be affected at all.

But I am extremely concerned about my citizenship application! Can this affect me any way?

No it won't impact.

Okay. Let's hope so. :O

I know someone with the same experience, but he hasn't applied for citizenship yet. A few months after the incident, he received a letter to appear as a witness in court. Regarding your case, I don't think this will affect your application in any way unless you were directly or indirectly involved in the illegal activities. Just hope for the best.

Not at all. I didn't even know about it until it all happened. I do my work honestly, file taxes, etc. I got no record whatsoever.
