Hi Everyone:

I am in need of some serious suggestions and assistance regarding a refusal for my parent’s visiting visa for Canada from CIC Islamabad. The reasons for the rejection according to what they received include:
1) Travel history
2) family ties in Canada and coutry of residence
3)personal assets and financial status

My parents wanted to visit Canada this coming June because my younger brother is graduating from a university in Newfoundland our parents were hoping to attend it. Their stay in Canada was mention for 10 days.

My father owns a business in Pakistan and has around $30000 in his account to visit Canada, while my mother is a housewife. They were unable to attach their property documents to their application because the application center in Lahore refused to attach their document papers, stating that their Canadian embassy does not require property documents.
My older and youngest brother live with my parents, I am 2nd older son, who came to Canada on student visa almost three years ago. Later I obtained my work permit and just recently got my permanent residence status for Canada. I am married to a Canadian citizen, have a 1 year old daughter and soon expecting another baby next month. Information regarding me, my status here in Canada and my family was not included in my parents SOP.

On the Statement of Purpose, my parents did not mention that they would like to visit me, but just my younger brother who is graduating. But if they did mention that they would be visiting me and my family as well, would this be more beneficial for them to get visiting visa? However, if they do try applying to visit Canada again by mentioning in their SOP about visiting me, will there be any negative effects (since they did not mention it the first time they applied)?
Now my question are:
- how could prove their travel history, because they did not visit any other country beside their home country?
- how we can prove their home ties ?
Would it be better if they mention that they want visit other family members in Canada as they did not mention 1st time ?
Is it good to attach return tickets with application ? and tell their day by day plan stating that 1st they will visit me for some days and then they will go newfoundland to attend my brothers graduation.? And go back to their home country?
This time they would apply online so they can attach all property documents to show their ties in home country.

They should have included property documents in their application. This was a mistake. I would get rid of your agent and apply yourself. What evidence did your father include to prove he is running an active business? Did he include his bank statement in the application?

There is nothing you can do about their travel since they haven't visited countries requiring visas.

Your parents have strong ties to Canada since you are a PR and your brother is attending school here. When they reapply, they will want to include as much evidence as possible to show ties to their home country.

Again, apply on your own and get rid of the agent.

thanks Scylla
They did apply by their own and no agent was hired, its visa application centre in lahore who collect documents on behalf of Canadian embassy in Pakistan and send these documents to canadian embassy, they refused to collect property documents stating that Canadian embassy in Islamabad is not accepting property documents since last 2 months.
and yes my father has running business in Pakistan and that is what his source of income is and they did attach their National Taxing number and bank statement of Last 3 months.
Now when they reapply should they mention about me and my family to visit as they did not mention 1st time ? because they only mentioned to visit my younger brother and to attend his graduation. or there will be negative impact if they mention me to visit ?
If they mention to visit me in their trip plan i can attach my job letter and bank statement with in Canada,
and my wife is expecting a baby next month should they also mention that they want to visit and see their grandkid ?

Hi,

I suggest you write to the Visa Office (not VFS) and clarify whether or not documents for property ownership, business registration, etc are no longer required for TRV applications from Pakistan.

1. Please post the list of documents/strong ties which your parents have but they were not allowed to submit

2. Did you mention about your wife's pregnancy/new baby in the invitation letter?

3. As your parents' stated your details in the Family Information Form (apart from your younger brother who is graduating), their ties to Canada will appear stronger than that to Pakistan.

4. Are your older and youngest brother's married? Are they dependent on your parents?

5. It is not advisable to book plane tickets before visas are issued

6. For the funds ie CAD 30,000 shown by your dad: Was some of it transferred between his accounts? Is this his personal account or business account?

Cheers

Thanks Bryanna

1. Please post the list of documents/strong ties which your parents have but they were not allowed to submit
a) home owning documents
b) shop or office owning documents
c) other land documents
d) National taxing number
Before they applied paper based, i think if they apply online then they can attach these documents

2. Did you mention about your wife's pregnancy/new baby in the invitation letter?
No i did not attach any invitation letter from side, invitation from my brother and from his university was only attached.
Now if they reapply should they mention in their statement about visiting my baby and i can send them invitation letter.
(one invitation from my side visiting me and my baby + one invitation letter from my brother to attend his graduation)

3. As your parents' stated your details in the Family Information Form (apart from your younger brother who is graduating), their ties to Canada will appear stronger than that to Pakistan.
They already mentioned in their SOP that they will return back to their country and have to look after his business
how we can prove their home ties beside providing their business and property documents? ùa

4. Are your older and youngest brother's married? Are they dependent on your parents?
My older brother just got married and staying with my parents
and youngest one is not married yet and doing his study in pakistan

5. It is not advisable to book plane tickets before visas are issued
makes sense

6. For the funds ie CAD 30,000 shown by your dad: Was some of it transferred between his accounts? Is this his personal account or business account?
My father holds only one bank account that is personal or business account. he does all transaction from that account.
Even attached a paper from bank stating that he is the only holder of that account.
how financia,l assets can be justified

1. Talk to a CA firm, evaluate your property, they will give you assessment letter. That would also improve your country tie.
2. As your father is a businessman, he must submit his trade license/business license.
3. If your younger brother is student/employed show is proof of status and residency with your parents.
4. To improve travel history, my parents visited to India, next time cic didn't complain.

For property ownership:
Ownership documents (translated into English) + valuation by a CA/property appraiser + recent property tax/local tax receipts.

If your parents have rented any property/office then the rent agreement + 2-3 months rent receipts

If your parents earn income from the land (if its agricultural land) then evidence of that. Or if it is commercial land then government approvals and plans for construction.

Now if they reapply should they mention in their statement about visiting my baby and i can send them invitation letter.
(one invitation from my side visiting me and my baby + one invitation letter from my brother to attend his graduation)
Do not mention about visiting to see your new baby/take care of your wife as it could mean working illegally on a TRV.

I suggest that you/your spouse should be the main hosts (and not your brother who is graduating). You can include two invitation letters but do include you/your spouse documents as the hosts.

Your parents must prepare a day-by-day itinerary listing the convocation/activities/sightseeing/spending time with you/your brother/your family etc with expense estimates.... and show that they can afford the visit + airfare

how we can prove their home ties beside providing their business and property documents?
Include business registration documents + business tax returns + evidence that the business is actively trading (POs, contracts, etc) + a small explanation that your dad can be away from his business temporarily only for XX days/he must return for XYZ orders which are scheduled after his return (include evidence)

My older brother just got married and staying with my parents
and youngest one is not married yet and doing his study in pakistan
Include evidence that they stay at the same address + evidence that your younger brother is dependent on your parents (financially, tuition fees, etc).

Do they live with any other dependent family members? For example, your grandparents?

My father holds only one bank account that is personal or business account. he does all transaction from that account.
An Explanation: How much of this money is actually available for his visit because the bank balance includes business money.

Draw up an Income-Expense table: Expenses (utilities, payments to suppliers, taxes, overheads, etc) which are payable in the next 1-2 months + Income (expected payments from customers, with 2-3 proofs).

Your dad must include 2 years ITRs. His bank balance (after deducting business operating costs) should match/exceed the ITRs + should be able to pay for his and your mom's visit/airfare

Also, include any financial investments, pension funds, shares, rental income, etc.

For your mom's financial situation: Jewelry valuation by a certified jeweler (if she invests in gold/jewelry)
