After reading some posts in this forum, I jsut realized there are more people out there waiting for so long , but I still wanted to know the general idea of how long its gonna take.

First of all I took citizenship test on December, 2013.

At the time I could not provide the first 2 years of status of myself (if I was in canada or not) so I was asked to bring my old passport.

A week after the citizenship test, I was scheduled to interview with one of the officer in Missisuaga, and bring the old passport.

But it was in home country and was on the way through delivery.

Therefore the metting was rescheduled to the another week.

2 weeks after the citizenship test on the next meeting, finally old passport arrived and I brought that to the meeting, but because I did not travel

through the plane but through the ground transportation (from US to Canada) , she told me she need additional document: transcript OR proof of enrollment.

I asked her to make sure that proof of enrollment is the last thing she needed , and she said that that will be last thing she needed, and

that document can be mail to the office.

After getting home, I sent the proof of enrollment right away, but there was no response from the office. - no notification if cic got my document

or not.

So I visit the office in person, and luckily security guard allowed me to meet another officer in person.

The officer that I spoke to seems to disappear, and the another officer told me that she need my transcript too!

I was dumbfounded because the first officer that I spoke to told me all she need is proof of enrollment, and now another officer requested transcript.

So I send the transcript around May 20th.

Now today I called cic office about 3 times.

Officer told me that she got all the documents she needed and everything was reviewed around June 07, 2014, but because

my document is non routine document, it can take up to 6month-1year.

I know a lot of you are still waiting, but in my case, i am permanent resident, student, and have all my file reviewed, just need the oath ceremony.

How long does non routine application generally takes to schedule the oath ceremony?

Then on the meeting, she told me that there is no issue with my document and its ready for the oath. All she need to see is passport.

----------------------

I just read through the forum and some people requested ATIP form, do you think requesting ATIP form will speed up the process or

will be just better for me to wait 4-5 months ?

Wait for few month all will be in your favour if God blessing.

If your time line is over 36 month than you apply for atip report..

You can apply for an ATIP at any time to get more information about your file. ATIP has no effect on the processing speed of your file.

Question: You say you called the CIC office. Did you call your local office and speak to an officer? Or did you call the call center (1 888 242-2100)?

All citizenship applicants are Permanent residents, some are students, some have had their files reviewed and some are still waiting. Some are completely kept in the dark about the state of their applications by CIC. You have been very lucky in that you have actually seen progress on your file and you have been able to speak personally with actual officers. These CIC officials have been extraordinarily accommodating of you and your scheduling challenges.

Oath ceremonies are generally scheduled in 2-6 months.

It's unclear if your file is actually resolved (i.e. just waiting for oath scheduling) since the officer (? or call center agent?) said that they needed to see your passport. An ATIP report, or contacting your MP would help to clarify this.

Good luck.

Yes I've never heard of anyone doing it either (though one can look up phone numbers of individual officers on GEDS), so I wanted to clarify with the original poster, who seems to have had an extraordinary run of luck contacting CIC officers directly or speaking with them in person!
