My LMIA is under investigation

My company was contacted and advised they have been randomly selected for a TFW investigation. My boss called me in today and told me they will have to provide documentation to TFW department, that includes my bank account print outs, proof that company is legit and other things.

When we applied for my LMIA we have used specific example with regards to my job to prove I was needed by the company. At that time I was invloved in a specific project and my assistance was required, positive LMIA was granted.

That was over a year ago. In the meantime project has ended and Im doing other things, things that do not make my employment in the company justifiable as far as positive LMIA goes. It's a well known reputable company and I earn good money.

They will send us a letter with a list of documents that are required. Im about 2-3 months away from receiving PR and Im shitting my pants.

Anybody knows how deep they are going to dig?

Well... it's not entirely clear from your description if you're doing the same job for which you were authorized, or not. It sounds like maybe not.

Hard to say. It could just be that they are checking to make sure your company is paying you at least as much as what they agreed to pay you (not all employers do) - raises are OK - not abusing you, etc. But if they determine you are working without authorization, then, hard to say. Your employer could get a hand-slap. But it's unlikely to affect your previous application (assuming it is CEC), unless there's something really egregious....

Really difficult to say as the LMIA policy (including the new rules and deeper investigations) will only be 1 year old as of this Saturday. We've seen much more scrutiny in providing positive LMIAs but I haven't read a lot in terms of the new investigations.

How big of a difference is there between what your LMIA was issued for and what you are currently doing? Is your salary still the same as it was?

My job is still the same with the exception of the project I worked on, my salary increased, my benefits are still the same.
