When applying for citizenship, my wife was asked to provide her name exactly AS IT APPEARS on her PR Card, passport or record of landing. The name that appeared on those 3 documents were written as ELISABETH SMITH SP (abbreviation for spouse as in my country of origin, when a woman is married, this abbreviation appears on her passport) DOUGLAS ( which would be my family name).
When she received or oath of citizenship, the anme that appears on the applicant name was ELISABETH SMITH SP DOUGLAS.
My question is simple: is tehre anyone who is in a similar situation and if so, is that normal to have this "appelation" on an oath and on an upcoming Canadian passport or should I contact the department and let them know?
In other wods, is it common on for a married woman to ahve her husband's name being mentioned on her canadian passport?
Thank you
