my landing plans ....experts advise me if i have left out anything

finally everything is set.

1. i have contacted scotia bank indian branch in coimbatore tamilnadu and given docs to open account. they said within 15 days i will get everthing and have to activate in the nearest branch once landed

2. iam going by jet airways from chennai-delhi-toronto and will land on aug 9 in toronto

3. as of now i have arranged a temp accomodation in a shared 2 bedroom aprtmetns in a place called scarborough ( frends is that a good place ..hows the connectivity ...ppl there kindly advise

4. I have created a profile with monster.ca as a first step .i have an canada address and fone number in resume as of now ( my frends!!! )

5. PPl who are alraedy living in scarborough contact me in my mial id : emaildeepakraghu @ gmail.com .we can meet network and get conected and help each other

6.I know its a big move and iam getting myself prepared for hard days ahead.

7.once things are settled i will bring my family here

8 ..scarborough frends pls get in touch ......... will update once i get a canadian fone number

9. also somebody advise me the best way to carry funds ( proportion of cash :draft etc)

10. I pray for everyone in this forum that they get theri visas faster and ppl already landed a smooth and happy life ahead.

Will update more as the days goes by .....hoping to get settled fast and smooth ...and i may also help anybody in need once i have landed there

carry your driving record from India

visit RTO office and get a letter saying the duration of your licence, it will help you to get licence here.

- carry money in both forms ( cash and C$ draft), any chq and draft will have atleast 5 days hold
- since you have open account with scotiabank, ask for visa credit card ( they have some plan for new immigrants, it will help for building credit history)
- scraborough is good place, you will find lots of indian around... connectivity is good with TTC bus and again it depends where you want to move around

!. i have planned to take the insurance in bajaj alliance. gi

2. i will carry the money as mentioned ..

3.i wil also check with the laptop and charges adaptors.

4.I hav already signed up for the credit card which i will get on arrival there.

5. My accomodation is near the place avelin crescent scarborough

NOW I HAVE 2 DOUBTS...


1. Iam going alone initially ..So can i carry only one person fund requirement or i should show the entire money for three on landing..pls guide

2. Do i hav to get any doctor prescribtion even for carrying basic medicines......like headaache ,fever ,body pain etc ...( these three may affect initially on landing..

3. And just a funny question ( non-alcoholics pls excuse me ) is drinks costly in canada( might help in too cold climate !!...) as Cigarattes..( i once read in mr.qorax post that cigar is very expensive..thank god ..i dont smoke..)

As now you've already landed, plz tell me whats cost of Beer or a scotch whisky? lolzzz a big Cheers to you..!! when i will be there in Canada for sure we'll tegether Cheers on a shot..!! ;D 8)
