My girlfriend is pregnant in Canada she is newly migrated

Hi everyone i have a situation here. My girlfriend is pregnant. She is landed immigrant there in Canada and probably she'll get her PR Card this coming March. My question is how am i supposed to go there and be by her side the moment she deliver our baby? Is she allowed to send me an invitation letter to visit her? And what are the chances that they will issue me a TRV? Please tell me what is the best thing to do? Thanks for your help...

She could send you an invitation but if she is not working and has no funds to show, it is not certain that the invitation will do much good. The idea of an invitation is that someone takes responsibility for you and your needs while you are in Canada. You can of course try to apply on your own saying you want to visit a friend. It is important to show that you have a steady job back home and that you are only going on vacation. They do not want you to visit if they think you might overstay.

Yes, you can apply for a visit visa without an invitation. You must show that you will return home after your visit and that you have the funds for the trip.

Hello Nathan, I personally prefer, you don't mention that you are gonna stay with your gf apartment.If you do so, I think they might need invitation letter from her. While apply for tourist visa, you can show just the hotel booking. Across Canada, you can fine "hi-hostels" which is good one and cheaper, you can show the booking over the internet for the proposed stay (note that at hi-hostels the will not entertain a person to stay more than 10 nights, so plan accordingly). Also you make an itinerary and submit along with your application. Also make a self declaration that after the tour, you will come back to your home country and join back to your work place. Better get a letter from your work place that you are an employee of the company, working with them since XXXX (year) is going on vacation from period to period and will join back to duty on so and so date.

The amount of money will depend upon the duration of your stay ( basically the amount you mention should match with number of days you stay there) for example for 15 days $4,000/- (which is what I kept). Also you need to submit the last 6 months bank statement. Please do keep in mind that the period of your stay and nature of your job should have a matching concept, what I meant to say here is that, if one has a small job (less earnings) and his period stay is almost a month, then the embassy will or may get suspicious.
