Hello,

Please advise on how to proceed... I am confused about my situation.

I am a Permanent Resident currently living in Canada and any my fiancée is planning to come here to study (September 2021 - Fall Intake). We also plan on getting married in May 2021.

I have two options in mind and would like your opinion on which one's more ideal in terms of IRCC rules and regulations:

1. She applies and obtains a Student Visa as a single (unmarried) person, and before she moves here we get married (May 2021). Would she face any problems on her arrival at the airport as her status changed to married and did not update IRCC about it? and also afterwards (when I apply for the Spousal Sponsorship for her after landing)? -- **Preferred Option**

2. She applies and obtains a Student Visa as a single (unmarried) person, and before she moves here we get married (May 2021). As soon as we get married, we inform IRCC about the marriage. Will this create a problem to her Study Permit?

3. Is there any other option I have? Visitor Visa and any other dependent VISA processing time is more than 8 months now due to the COVID situation. Her family wants her to come with me to Canada ASAP. Study permit is the only way to get her here soon.

Please suggest the best course of action here and which option is more suitable for us or if you have anything else in mind that'd be helpful too.

1. No issues.
2. There is no process for informing IRCC.

If she has not received approval/refusal she needs to update her status via webform to indicate she is now married. Study permit is not a fast process these days. Has she completed IELTS yet? Applied to schools?

IELTS has been completed. She has got admit from 1 college. Waiting for another admit.

If we get married during the process of the study permit application and we update IRCC as you suggested, will this affect her application in any way ? I'm concerned only because I'm a PR of Canada.
