Im a live-in caregiver and mailed my application last august 29 and cic received august 31..
No ECAS yet and my employer is asking me to renew or do contract extension for another year. I would rather try working outside if only I have my Open permit and they are wanting my decision the soonest dis week..

I am confused because if I say yes to them now, and received my OP later, another discussion for backing out later will be done that would not impress my employer for rushing out to move out by march. they also need time to find a new one as early as now or atlis have their best option of extending my service with them. HELP!! im really confuse. :( :'(

If you are not that happy with them anymore then what's the point of extending your contract. I guess at that time you will be getting your OWP. But CIC is hard to predict. Anyways, when will be your current WOrk Permit valid? As long as you still have valid Work PErmit until March 2013 then you will be fine. Good luck!

may i share what i see the rythymn of caregivers i know....

having lots of live in caregiver friends i have, the usual thing they do is meeting halfway between them.
if you already finished your 2 years contract with them and just waiting for owp; the time left for both of you is mutual. you need them because you dont like to be jobless. they need you somehow they're still comfortable with you that's why until now they're not making an effort to replace you even before you file they should have do it especially if getting outside canada if they want to.

the unpredictableness of cic is the one for sure. propose for your employer if they will hire outside canada and will do it by themselves without agency services the clock starts right now. both of you will wait for the arrival of your replacement since it really takes time.

now if your employer anytime can avail services of nanny getting from agencies in canada. speak to them that if and when your owp will come is it ok with them if you can just stay a month of two just waiting for the replacement of nanny.

the money is replaceable. the opportunity blends well if all of our actions is equipped with good motive and gratitude. the 2 years or more of you and your employer living in one roof employment is more than a business relationship and already considered once a family.

i hope i help.

@out: hi. Thank u so much for ur very comfortable yet reliable words.. Our contract will be turning 3 by march and that will end base on the paper agreement.. Treatment and dealing, there were never an issue.. They are a really great family and the work was not so demanding. What i have seen from them, their goodness and being so natural has been the same since the very day of my stay.. and I feel so lucky actually working with a good family like them. The only thing that makes me eager moving out after after my 3year contract is that, yeah they are great but I wanted some changes in my routine and try a better luck for my own growth working outside. we are living in an acre age which is even out from the city. The setting is that we are like in an remote area no neighborhood beyond my sight, and no public transportation. This is the most thing i wanted to experience with. A better freedom.. As much as they want me, i wanted to stay only if I can go out after work and have some extra job whenever my OWP is already on hand. We are like 45minutes away to the city, and they use to drive me every lunch time saturday and be back home after lunch of sunday. that has been my routine for almost 3years from now.

My worries now is like u said, they've been a big part why I am here, treated me nice and its so hard leaving them when the're telling u atlis another year more before their son will go to school. So maybe i have to deal driving for now, that also one of my target, well its really a necessity I know but with bigger responsibility having a car Im not so sure How will I adjust again.

anyway, thank u so much. Im a newbie here, still figuring out the in and outs of the forum, how to get notified when somebody replies and how to keep and follow the trend of each topic I am looking into.. hehe:)

its so nice hearing somebody's opinions from out of the blue:)
i hope, i can do some arrangement with that would set our both grounds working...
god bless!
