Good news that we are almost done with PR process for Canada. At this point I thought of noting down the process we followed from start till now for getting the PR. I hope, this may help somebody.
First of all, I never applied through any consultancy regarding my application.
December 2015 – We decided to migrate to Canada after a long thought of 1-2 years. (May be from 2013 onwards). The same month, I registered for IELTS exam for me and my wife, and received the date during March 2016.
January 2016 – Though I and my wife has multiple onsite experiences to different countries, we decided to go for IELTS class over week ends. The same month I applied for WES credentials. As we do not have time to go to university for that I depended on Clear transcript agency for this.
March 2016 – We both attended IELTS. But the result was not as expected. Either one of us needed 8 in listening and 7 in rest all for scoring 421 marks. We wanted that!
April-June -2016 – I attended IELTS again and not improved my score much. Again my wife attended that during June 2016. That point, she scored the expected marks. Meanwhile we received the WES reports.
July 2016 – I filed our application making my wife as primary applicant. And started waiting for the CIC score to come down… Note that, it’s very easy to fill application and you do not need any support for that.
We had spent only for IELTS and WES till this point.
Long months of waiting…and I moved to UK in November 2016. Family stayed back in India. Almost we were reaching 1 yr of waiting time of application filing date and we were thinking to re-file after July 2017.
April 2017 – The points came down to 423. But ours was 421. Again fingers crossed and waited. On the second draw on April 2017, the points came down to 415J.
Yes! We received the invitation J
April 2017 to May 2017 – We know that we have 90 days to submit application. I made a plan on the collection of all required documents. As we lived in different countries during our career, I started collecting the police verifications and other documents from all the places. I divided the task between me and my wife for collection of documents and filling the form.
June 2017 – We gathered all documents and completed the application form. There is no specific format for anything. It’s only how much you can detail your documents and how much you can be fair and truthful on this. For all documents like proof of funds, experience – though we have all proofs and funds in place, I included covering letter explaining each details to convince immigration officer better. At last, we submitted the application on the 61st day. Still I had a month left for submitting.
And now, started waiting for next steps. Either queries or clarifications from CIC or PPR request email.
July 2017- Surprisingly, within less than a month we received PPR request to send to Delhi immigration. But the twist is, my family also moved to me to UK. So we cannot send passport to Delhi.
At this point, I posted this query in this immigration form and one smart fellow gave me proper update. I did sent email to Delhi requesting to change the case processing office to London.
August 2017 – we received email to send passport to London Embassy. And we did that…
We are now hopefully waiting to get PR stamped in passport J..hopefully…!!!
Over all the best things I followed are:
1) Did 6 months of research through various forums and CIC website to understand regarding process
2) Created a plan on how I am going to approach the process
3) We followed the plan and time lines.
4) Were truthful and Fair in application and documents
5) We did not approached any consultancies. I believe, I saved some amount there
Points to note:
1) Anybody can do Canada PR themselves if they have proper plan and if they can follow that on any condition
2) Consultancy cannot do any magic to get your PR. Whatever we can do only they can do in this matter
3) CIC website carries all information on what you need to do. More over refer to forum topics
All the best Guys!!!
