  • I applied online on September 17 for Winter term, but my application has been refused due to the following reasons (attched):

    I applied online.

    1. You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada...(I have a UCI number in FSW 2014 scheme which I honestly mentioned in SOP)

    a. Purpose of visit
    b. current employment situation

    2. Insufficient funds

    a. have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees
for the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue
    b. have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to maintain yourself
and any family members who are accompanying you during your proposed period of study
    c. have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the costs of
transporting yourself and any family members who are accompanying you to and from Canada

My Profile

Age: 37
Education: B.COM, First Class (2002)
Experience: 14 years, presently working in Human Resources Department as Senior Payroll Officer
Employment status: Has been working in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia for the last 9 years)

Curriculum Vitae: Included in application in detail

Program applied: University level, Human Resources Management Diploma (Fast-track)
Program status: Accepted, Student ID received ; LOI received; Fees paid

IMM1294E

Fund available with me: CAD 35,000
Fund shown in application as below:

Tuition: CAD 5,512 + CAD 1,239
Room and board: CAD 10,000
Funds available for my stay shown as: CAD 25,000

What is wrong in my fund descriptions in the form?
Why my employment status is a reason for refusal?
Can anyone help me to correct my SOP?

Could someone explain?

A diploma is not a university level course. Agreed that at this point you should really be going for a masters (or a PGD at a minimum). Unfortunately it's really not that surprising you were refused.

Not to offend you but your age and work experience is what might've turned them off. You are mature and in industry for a very very long time. They don't see you as a viable student now.

P.S. It's not just you. I had few of my older relatives which didn't get study visa because of the same reason.

The refusal letter does not say anything about my program choice. It speaks only about fund, SOP & current employment situation

I got admission and student ID from McMaster Center for Continuing Education as I am a mature student (Fast-Track Human Resources Management Program). If my program choice was a reason, the refusal letter would have mentioned it. Because at present, I have been working in Human Resources Department. But I do not have a academic background in HR.

1. Please, do you have more thoughts on how to show my fund details in IMM1294E?

a. Tuition
b. Room and board: What are the things to be included in this?
c. Other: What are the things to be included in this?
d. Funds available for my stay: What must be shown here?
e. How should I show air fare information to and from Canada?

2. And what is meant by current employment situation? Do they mean I need permission from my current employer for my higher studies?

Yes - it does. Just not directly.

The "purpose of visit" refusal reason means CIC doesn't believe you are a genuine student. As we have explained to you here, based on your age, experience and past education - what you are planning on studying in Canada doesn't make sense.

Why is it not directly written in the refusal letter? Because there are many others who was denied visa stating that they are not genuine.

Anyway, can you please clarify on the below:

1. Please, do you have more thoughts on how to show my fund details in IMM1294E?

a. Tuition
b. Room and board: What are the things to be included in this?

Where does it mention about SOP?

Notes:

"Married Indian male. Wife in KSA. EE application expired. Going for Human Resources Management program at
McMaster University, starting January 2017. PA has Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2002. PA is Senior Payroll
Officer at ****************. since August 2013, 4.6k SAR/month salary. Wife is Phlebotomist at ************** 2007 to 2013: Administrative Secretary at *******.
July 2006 to June 2007: Accountant at ***************. PA has SAR 24K and USD17K in funds. Concerns
about funds. BF concerns. To CBO for review."

"File reviewed: based on the material on file provided by the applicant, I'm not satisfied that PA is well
established in KSA;
I'm not satisfied that PA has sufficient and stable funds to cover the expense of staying and
studying in CDA; I'm not satisfied that PA is a BF student and that PA will leave CDA at the end of an authorized
stay.
Application Refused"

As I believed they are no concerns about my program of study.

VO misunderstood my fund source as from parents whereas, in the form, I had shown "myself".

Secondly, regarding current employment situation VO comments that I am not well established. I have been here for the last nine years and wife eight years (she is not accompanying me).

In purpose of study, I showed my own house in India as a home tie . I am afraid VO did not notice that.

I disagree. Your notes say that they don't believe you're a bona fide student. That's typically an indicator that you haven't chosen the right program of study.

I'll be brutally honest with you. Given your age, experience and past education - it makes absolutely no sense for you to be taking a diploma in Canada. Your only possible motivation would be immigration. That's how I would see it if I was the VO.
