I understand companies want to check on one's references upon hiring. However, is credit history something most employers will check? As new immigrants, we don't have any. Will that put as at an adverse position in finding jobs?

Credit history is not a criteria.

Not true. Depending on the employer, a credit check may be required. For example, if you work in the financial services industry, credit checks are often carried out and can impact employment.

This is what I've heard. But guess I don't have any option but to take the hit if it comes about.

Employers aren't worried about people with NO credit history - they are concerned about people with BAD credit histories. If you have no credit history - that's fine.
