Multiple Visa Question

Good Evening,

My sister was recently given a visitor visa to Canada.
What I found a bit strange is that she was given a multiple entry visa, but date of issue was 12/06/17 and the visa expire date is 30/08/17. Never heard of a visitor visa that is being issued for two months. We have no problem with this, in fact the plan is for her to come to visit the family in July for two weeks before she resumes her studies.
Just found it to be a bit strange that she was given a multiple entry visa that last for less than two months.. Any thoughts on this? Has this happen to anyone else before?
Appreciate your replies and thoughts.
Thanks

Hi,

I think this is the shortest TRV validity that we've seen. Does her passport expire on 30/08/17?

I do remember a similar case. However, that applicant was issued a TRV validity for 3 months

Cheers

Yes I found it quite odd as well. Her passport is relatively new, and the expiry date is in November 2021.

I am not going to complain, as I know that my sister are one of the fortunate ones who has been given a visitor visa to Canada but I can't just let go of the fact that she has been given a different visitor visa than the rest of the visitor visa applicants. Also the fact that it says MULTIPLE under no of entries doesn't make sense when they have given her a two month time period to visit Canada.

We do come across unusual decisions occasionally. Recently someone's mom was approved for a super visa, but the validity was just 6 months although passport expiry is 10 years later. Or we've seen applicants applying for super visas and granted TRVs instead.

I suggest you:
1. Order GCMS notes just to understand why. It will help for her visa future applications.

2. Email the visa office to reconfirm there's no error in printing the visa validity.... but only if you believe you must ask/recheck.

I guess the short validity is because your sister is young and still in school.

It's great if her intended visit is only for two weeks/not longer as it will prove she is a genuine visitor when she applies for a TRV the next time. She can then expect a TRV of much longer validity

Yes it appeared a bit weird to me. I did email the visa office to confirm the dates on the visitor visa. This is the reply I received:

"Please take note that there is no mistake in the decision. That is the validity of the visa she has been granted."

Feels good that everything is in order! We were feeling a bit worried there had been a mistake when printing the visa. It just appeared strange to me that she was given a two month multi entry visitor visa.

I believe you have a point when you said that she is young and still in school. That must have been the reasons to such a short validity time on her visitor visa. However, we don't mind the short validity time as her school resume in August. We are just happy that she can come and visit us!

Thanks for your help!
