Moving to Ontario, school or kindergarten?

Hi,

we are about to move from Germany to Toronto in the next couple of weeks. We have two children with us: our 5 year old daughter (turns 6 in November) and our 3 year old son (turns 4 in September).

As far as I have read in this forum, our son will qualify for kindergarten in September.

Will my daughter attend elementary school this year or will she join the kindergarten as well? Is there any authority in Canada that we have to consult to find a school for her or how is this handled in Canada?

So my son seems to qualify for a Junior Kindergarten.

f your child will be four by December 31, 2015, he or she can start Junior Kindergarten in September 2015. [..] Registration for all TDSB Kindergarten programs begins in February.

Do you have any experience with this registration process? Will there still be a chance for us to register him now?

Regarding my daughter I was not able to find an answer to my question whether she will attend elementary school this year of if she has to wait until next year.

You will need to contact the school board direct for answers. Also, you will need an address in Toronto to determine which schools/be able to register your children.
