I am working as a Software Engineer in USA on a valid F1 Visa on OPT which is valid until February next year (2019). I have received the invitation to apply for the PR and I am almost ready with all my documents for the express entry application. I am planning to submit the documents before the end of this month (September 2018).
Since my OPT expires in February 2019, I am planning to move to Canada a few days before my OPT expires. Since, express entry application can take upto 6 months, there is a good chance that I might not get the PR in time. In that case my employer is willing to get me a work permit showing an intra company transfer.
My questions are:
1. Is it correct that getting a work permit would be a completely separate process and should not affect my express entry PR application?
2. If I do move to Canada using a work permit (assuming question 1 has 'yes' as an answer) while my PR application is in progress, how hard would it be to update my application and inform the IRCC of my new status and address in Canada? Would you recommend doing that?
