Moving to Canada how to start?

Hi all
I am looking for advice for my family if anyone can help. Me,my wife and son(4) want to move to Canada me and my wife have wanted to do it for years. Decided to step up the pace.
I was a mechanic for 11 years working on ford and Vauxhall, went back to college to do my degree in the sports industry and then do a post grad in primary teaching I am currently 3 years into my degree.
My wife also done the same as she went back to her human resource degree, we want to finish our degrees before we move as Scotland offer these for free( they cost in Canada 6-9 thousand)
I am looking for advice on what my first step is before I stand contacting immigration lawyers and companies to help.
We are looking to move to Abbotsford BC, and looking to do so in 3 years as This is the time scale for finances and education.
Some one please advise with any information, even any expats on here that in Canada what is the best process to go through or companies
