Hi there, finally got my Canadian Residency after months of waiting! I can finally go and live with my Canadian Fiance :)

I am coming from the UK and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good transport / Removals company? Ideally collect from my home in England, and deliver to my new home in Canada. I Don't have a massive amount of stuff; mainly clothes and computer equipment (No furniture). I have had a quote from one company for £800, but this seems pretty excessive.

Thanks!

I would not call 800 GBP excessive at all.

Anyway, you might want to get a quote from Crown Relo. They are pretty good and customer minded.

Normally it's based on volume + a base cost + insurance (you're insane not to insure). 800 is very low and I would be concerned that you might not be getting the service you expect. We used Manns and it cost something like 2500 for 435 cubic feet + insurance premium at 3.5% of the declared shipment value. (930).

Not sure what the current rates are but international movers into and out of Canada are painful to deal with and often will not keep their promises. If the rate is on the low side I would be very careful about reading the fine print. Also see if you can find reviews on the companies you are considering. Do not bother with the good reviews, only the bad ones, then decide if you can live with the bad ones. Personally I do not trust that the good reviews are not fake. Just a thought.

Good luck. Moving internationally is nowhere near as much fun as it sounds
