Hello Everyone,

I'm being offered a role in Canadian Subsidiary of my organization. And will be moving to Canada in October 2022 with a Closed work permit along with my Wife.
My wife is also being extended an Open Work Permit.

However, before this role opened we have already planned our family and she is due by Jan 2023. So I have two questions here

1) Will there be any issue for her entry into Canada, because she is pregnant. I'm concerned because there was no place where we could declare about her pregnancy while filling her Open Work permit. Will she be allowed to enter in Canada by Immigration department ?

2) What will be the status of Medical Insurance for her ? Will she be eligible for maternity benefits by OHIP ? And in case the answer to this question is "NO" what are the best options for us to get inexpensive medical care.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

1) She won't have any issues entering Canada. The only thing to consider is the cut off for flying (for pregnant women) which is set by airlines.
2) She will have access to OHIP coverage as soon as she arrives. This covers the costs of the birth. She will almost certainly not qualify for maternity benefits which is money that is paid to someone after they give birth as income replacement. To qualify for maternity benefits, she would need to work in Canada for at least 420 hours in Canada after arriving.
