Hi,
My wife (who is a Canadian Citizen) and I live in New York. We are looking to move back to to Toronto and our lawyer just sent in my PR application today. We would like to move as soon as my wife finds a job or April 2013, whichever is sooner. From what I understand, when I move as a PR I can bring a car and my stuff (furniture, clothes, TV, etc.) and not have to pay taxes on it because I am a PR. What happens if we move before I become a PR? Can I still bring all that stuff?
I know I can't stay in the country for longer than 6 months at a time if I am not a PR, but that wont be an issue since I have family in NY that I will come see every few months.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
