Hello.

I'm moving to calgary next week. I landed in toronto and have been staying for the past 10 months. I have a health card and a family doctor here. Based on what ive read, if you are a new Immigrant and just landed in alberta you are immediately covered AHCIP. But if you came from another province, there is a 3 mos waiting period. Is this correct? So my questions now:
1. Should i inform service ontario that i will be moving to calgary?
2. Do i inform my family doctor? So i can transfer my medical history and records?
3. If there is a waiting period of 3 mos to have AHCIP, will my OHIP still be valid in the next 3 mos? To atleast cover me while i wait?

I hope someone had a similar experience to share.

Cheers!

Bumping this up. Sorry need info guys.

You should definitely tell OHIP you are moving and you should register with AHCIP at some point after you have arrived. OHIP will cover you during the time you are waiting for AHCIP.

You should inform your family doctor and talk about transferring your records but of course you will have to wait until you have a GP in Calgary so you will have somewhere to transfer them to.
