Hello,
I married a Canadian Citizen last year and applied for Permanent Residency in December and within 4 weeks received the email that it is being processed. I just received my work visa 3 weeks ago and am looking for a job. We bought a new house, new build and have been waiting for it to be done and it finally will be on May 4th. My husband has hired a moving company (Atlas) to take all of my belongings to Toronto. I have the B4 form to complete and was going to do a separate spreadsheet to be more detailed. However, from reading some of these posts, am I not supposed to be moving my belongings yet? We were told it shouldn't take much longer to get my permanent residency when I called the CIC general number for questions. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

How did you apply for PR? Inland or outland? On what basis did you obtain a work permit? Is it an OWP you received as a result of applying for PR inland?

we applied in house, in Canada. They had a pilot program from December 2014 to December 2015 where if you applied for PR you can also apply for a work visa. We did that and I just got the work visa 3 weeks ago. it will be 4 months of processing on the 24th of this month

That's what I suspected. In that case you won't have PR that quickly - you should be expecting at least another 10 months of processing (possibly more).

It's correct that the B4 form is for people who have already been approved for PR and are moving to Canada. It's unfortunately too early for you to be doing this.

I'd recommend you move over to the Family Sponsorship section of the forum if you have further questions.

The current posted processing time for INLAND PR apps, is 26 months. So you may have a long wait until you have your app approved and become a PR. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp

Also you don't qualify for importing all your goods tax-free until you become a PR. So if you or your husband ships over all your stuff now, prepare to pay full tax & duties on everything.

And finally if you attempt to cross the border with tons of stuff, CBSA may take exception to that and deny you entry. If you are denied entry into Canada with an INLAND app in progress, your PR app is cancelled and you would need to start over.

Thoughts?! Yes...my thoughts are that they're blatant liars, because even the most junior person at the Call Centre should know that an Inland application takes a ridiculous amount of time, which is nowhere near as quick as you're hoping for. :(
