Hi I'm new here and I see that this forum can be very informative. I have a question that maybe any one can help me with. I am a Canadian Citizen living outside of Canada and I have put in my application to sponsor my husband which was received March 23rd, 2012 after mistakenly sending it to my VO first. I am considering moving before my husband and would like to know if this would affect my application in any way.
I see that it usually takes a long time to be finalized and the processing times are getting longer and was wondering if moving there earlier would help my case in any way.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

If you move back first, it is unlikely to have any impact on how long it takes to complete the process (unless you didn't have strong proof of intending to move back to Canada and it generated questions). However, unless he already has a temporary resident visa, he is unlikely to be able to visit you so the wait may be harder :(

That is the only part that I am skeptical of, proving my intent to move. Also we don't need a visitor's visa to travel to canada. Would he be able to visit during the waiting process once he can show that he still has ties to home?

If you want, he can stay with you the entire time as he waits for his PR. We are doing this, although at times it has been hard, it has worked out well for us.

Wow that would be great! I will look into that as an option as long as it causes no issues with his paperwork. On my application, my intended move date was April of 2012 but after sending the application to the wrong place and having to wait for its return, I had to push it back. I would like to move by December or as soon as I am approved to sponsor so I can continue my search for jobs.

How has the whole sponsorship process been for you so far? It tends to drive me crazy at times ???

I have deftinatly had my moments.. Now I try not to focus on it as much because I know theres nothing I can do - so I try and wait patiently.. I am happy my SO can be with me here as it make things a lot easier for us and he can spend time getting to know the culture before he starts working!
