Hello there,

I applied for my Canada PR (Federal Skilled worker) in April 2010 while I was in the US. My processing started there and I got a file number for my case. Currently, my file is with the Buffalo Visa office.

In June 2011, I moved from US, back to India. I did not change my address on file since I was not sure where my company would send me next. Now, in October 2011, I moved to UK. I am going to be here for a couple of years. So, I am considering some options now:

a) Should I change my address on file to the new UK address? Will it move the processing from Buffalo to London? What impact would that have on my case? Will it restart the processing all over again, or will it actually help since London might be faster than Buffalo?

b) Change the address to a friend's address in US itself. He will receive all the mails for me.

c) Do nothing, and keep my old US address. All my mails are automatically forwarded by USPS to my friend's address.

Would highly appreciate your advise.

Thanks.

1) You should inform the VO you moved to the UK. Your VO cannot be changed unless Buffalo decides it needs to (up to them). Be prepared if Buffalo calls you for an interview to travel back to the US

2) No. Use your UK address.

3) Do not trust mail forwarding by USPS. Also mail stops forwarding after 1 year

Rod, Thank you so much for your advise. The thing that I am concerned about is the processing time. If they move my processing from Buffalo to London, will the process start all over again? Will I lose the 18 months that my app has already been in progress?

What if I just give a friend's address and have the process continue in Buffalo? I think its quite rare that they actually call you to for the interview. Isnt it?

Really appreciate your help!!

Thanks.
